750mL Bottle

Varietal: Riesling

Vintage: 2021

SKU: 442921

Clean, refreshing, and bursting with citrus fruit flavour.

Tasting Notes: Nose has prominent peaches in syrup, fragrant key lime, light and fresh aromatics. Some faint waxy notes, similar to parrafin. As it opens up, ripe gala apple, white grapefruit and a variety of citrus and stone fruit as well. The palate shows nice structure, fresh and balanced acidity and sweetness.

Farm Notes: An unusually warm vintage with a lot of healthy fruit. Late leaf pulling helped preserve the freshness of the wine, the long late-season sun has influenced riper citrus flavours than usual. Picked and sorted Sept 23rd & 29th (two part harvest for complexity). Yield was 5.83 t/acre. Pressed whole bunch to tank, then racked for cool fermentation (around 14-16 C). No press fractioning. Fermentation aiming at 12-14 g/L R.S., this wine ended up drier at the end of fermentation. Kept on light lees for a few months and then bottled early 2022.

Maker Notes: Technical note: white grape skin tannins can have a slight drying effect on the palate, especially in Riesling in hotter vintages where the smaller berry size and longer sun exposure cause the cluster to carry more tannin and the skin goes more golden/pink in colour. I see some real similarities with the 2017 -- Mel

Food Pairing Notes: Goes well with seared pork tenderloin and stone fruit compotes, caramelized onion and fresh cheeses like ricotta or goat cheese. Generally Thai, Mexican, Indian Food pairs well with this wine.

Cellaring Potential: Ready to drink now or can hold for aging 5+ years.
