Awards Notes: Dr. Jamie Goode: 40 Knots Pinot Gris 2023 Vancouver Island 10.7% alcohol. This is taut, bright and zesty, but really well balanced. Showing high acidity, it offers juicy pear and lemon fruit with a hint of grapey richness. Fruity, alert and quite bracing, but with nice purity. 89Tasting Notes: Aromas of baked apples, ripe melon, and wildflowers gracefully emerge from the glass, leading to a palate that is both vibrant and refreshing, culminating in a crisp, lingering finish.Farm Notes: The 2023 vintage on the Comox Peninsula was exceptional, thanks to a favorable climate. After a strong start with good moisture, a warm May spell boosted vine vitality. Cooling temperatures and rain led to an early harvest, with careful hand-picking to ensure the best quality and capture the unique characteristics of each varietal.Maker Notes: Destem, knotty crush and skin contact, press, settle, rack clear juice with fluffly and knotty lees. Inoc in SS with EC1118 and QA23, chill ferment 14°C until 3-6°B, then let it buck. Age on lees for 8 months, stir weekly the knotty way. Monthly checks plus SO2 plus bubbles. Stablize the Knotty Way with organic bento, temp and time. Filter and bottle.Food Pairing Notes: Bright and zesty 40 Knots Pinot Gris with juicy pear, apple, and citrus notes pairs beautifully with light seafood dishes like oysters, shrimp, and ceviche.
