Baco Noir 2024 Organic

Tasting Notes: A full-bodied red with notes of ripe and juicy strawberry, black cherry, black current, dark chocolate, leather and tobacco. The silky tannins of this dry wine balance acidity and a long, long, long finish

Farm Notes: Baco Noir was planted throughout the Okanagan Valley in the 1970s for its hardiness and disease resistance. Most was pulled out in the late ‘80s to make way for the classic European grape varieties. Our neighbor Elmer Eidse kept his. Now these old vines are managed organically to create this delicious wine that is a living history of the British Columbia wine industry. The 2024 grape growing season in Kelowna was defined by a catastrophic, early-year deep freeze that caused unprecedented damage to vineyards, resulting in one of the smallest harvests in BC history. Following a slow, cool, and wet start in May and June, July brought warm, sunny conditions that allowed for decent vine growth for these hardy surviving vines. This yielding red wines of fruity intensity with balanced acidity.

Maker Notes: The wine fermented in a 10,000L oak foudre. Fermentation completed naturally, leaving some residual sugar in the wine. Bottled young and fresh!

Food Pairing Notes: Baby back ribs, hamburgers, or with a good book next to a cozy fireplace!
