This Cabernet Sauvignon is from the southwest corner of this vineyard, which is one the warmest pockets in BC. The 2020 vintage produced ripe, concentrated fruit which places the profile of this wine further from the Left Bank of Bordeaux and nearer those of Washington State, with dark, opulent fruit backed by present yet ripe tannins, with a pleasing, sumptuous, and persistent finish. For best results, open from 2025-2030.

Farm Notes: Lazy River takes its name from the Similkameen River that winds through the bottom of this vineyard. Located about 10 km from the American border, this vineyard is warm enough for producing ripe fruit for the red varieties, while the higher elevation assists in the retention of acidity and freshness. The soils here are high in calcium carbonate derived from schist and granite which lends a desirable mineral sensation to the wine.
Maker Notes: Allowing the grapes to fully develop phenolically on the vine is the key to this grape's success. Berry sorting is the other key. A team of watchful eyes carefully sorted these blocks to get the best clusters, allowing only the most perfect berries to go into tank. A spontaneous ferment began in neutral vessels before the wine was inoculated to successfully complete alcoholic fermentation. It was then gently pressed into small barriques and aged for 18 months (60% French oak and 40% American oak, 40% of which was new) before bottling and aging a further year in the cellar. 8% Merlot from an adjacent block is included in the blend.
